Where Couples Go To Argue
The true test of any relationship is not adultery, finance nor the raising of offspring. It’s IKEA!
Since I moved to Dublin, I have been on several solo epeditions to IKEA. Each time I see couples tested to the limits in this Disney World for grown ups. Witnessing the thin veneer of civility transform into full-on arguments over an individuals taste in chairs and not willing to stretch the budget has left me scarred. I think IKEA provides deliveries solely to keep the divorce rate down!
One particular Saturday while I was sitting at the restaurant I overheard the mother of all arguments. Said tiff was based on a husband not living up to his vows. His wife scolded him for not “stretching the budget” over some extended living room furniture choices. Apparently that thing he did in bed wasn’t “normal” and “yes, he wouldn’t be doing it again”. I spat out my meatball and didn’t know where to look. I presume she was talking about his penchant for building LEGO… he had the look of a LEGO builder and didn’t want to know either way. 😂

All frames are handcrafted locally only using traditional hand tools with no machinery. The timber is sustainably sourced in Leinster. Frames are only available in Ireland.
