Proof of A-dress
I was applying for an insurance service recently. I was in a plush office and dressed accordingly. Everything was going well. The broker couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. The conversation was business orientated and the pleasantries went no further than talking about the weather.
As I gave my details to the broker, she rapidly typed up my application and might have had the impression that I was normal.
Then she asked for my “PROOF OF ADDRESS”.
I pinched myself and my inner dialogue said, “DON’T, don’t do it”.
I then blurted out, “I didn’t bring a dress with me”.
SHE DID NOT GET MY TERRIBLE JOKE!
Instead of digging a hole any deeper, I bowed my head and handed her my electricity bill.
“Sorry, the proof of A-Dress was a joke”, I sheepishly said.
She replied with a look of befuddlement and said in a monosyllabic tone, “OH, THAT’S FUNNY”. 🙄
Instant mortification, followed by another apology and in turn ammunition for a print – to salvage a terrible joke. 😜😂
