In the Guinness Quarrel ad,
Michael Fassbender doesn’t just apologise.
He crosses the country,
climbs gates that aren’t his,
cuts through fields like a man with nothing left to lose,
and when Ireland runs out—
he keeps going.
Into the Atlantic.
Swimming for days,
powered entirely by regret and determination,
until he reaches New York to say sorry.
It’s heroic.
It’s dramatic.
It’s completely unhinged.
I, personally—
being far too passive aggressive for all that—
have a much simpler coping mechanism.
Wade into the sea.
Think about apologising.
Don’t.
Have a pint.
Then attempt a swim to America.
