Spinal Tap

I was on a business Zoom call recently with a client and as with Zoom sometimes there is a slight lag. The person on the other end couldn’t hear me as they had accidentally put me on mute. After a solid thirty seconds of charades, I abandoned my gesticulations as the client might have thought I was having some kind of seizure and I sent them an instant message.

We resolved the problem and a bit of business banter followed. “If that happen again – turn the volume up to eleven”, I quipped. Silence, my client didn’t get the ‘Spinal Tap’ reference! WTF! For a moment it caused me to question the amount of time I have invested in pop culture and classic films, which was quickly forgotten and I questioned the person’s taste in film.
