Being Bold in Ireland – 1980’s vs 2020’s

My five year old daughter thinks that wooden spoons have only one purpose – cooking. When I was a child (in the 1980’s) wooden spoons were much more versatile. They were dual purpose – used for cooking and threatening children to behave!

Thankfully, wooden spoons aren’t used to instil fear in children anymore. We are much more advanced in the 2020’s. Steve Jobs invented the modern day ‘carrot on a stick’ for kids. It’s called an iPhone. The iPhone is so effective that if threatened to be taken away, children magically behave. The phrase “no screen time” has become even more powerful than “I’m getting the wooden spoon”. 😜😂
